Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier Presents on Group Capital Calculation at NAIC Insurance Summit

Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier gave a presentation on Group Capital Calculation as part of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (“NAIC”) Insurance Summit agenda on Monday, May 22, 2017.

Commissioner Altmaier discussed the progress of the NAIC’s Group Capital Calculation Working Group as it develops a group capital calculation as an additional regulatory analysis tool.  He also described the key decisions made to date on the project, as well as the general timeline for implementation.

Commissioner Altmaier chairs the NAIC’s Group Capital Calculation Working Group, the 2017 charge of which is to Construct a U.S. group capital calculation using a risk-based capital aggregation methodology.  The Working Group also works as necessary with the NAIC’s ComFrame Development and Analysis Working Group on international capital developments and considers group capital developments by the Federal Reserve Board, both of which may help inform the construction of a U.S. group capital calculation.
