Wednesday, August 5

Thursday, August 6

  • 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.–Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance meeting. Washington, D.C.  Agenda includes overview of workers’ compensation trends and regulatory framework discussion including a detailed focus on workers’ compensation opt-out legislation, as well as the issue of personal auto insurance affordability.  To view the meeting notice, click here.

Friday, August 7

  • Florida Workers’ Compensation Insurance Guaranty Association (“FWCIGA”) Board of Directors’ meeting.  Orlando, Florida.  To view the meeting notice, click here.
    • The FWCIGA Audit Committee meeting is scheduled to meet at 8:45 a.m.

Tuesday, August 11

  • Florida Commission on Hurricane Loss Projection Methodology (“Commission”) meeting.  9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Tallahassee, Florida.  Teleconference:  (888) 670-3525; conference code:  7135858151.  The Commission’s Executive Committee will meet to prioritize various ideas and issues for consideration in developing the 2015 Standards and Acceptability Process, followed by a full Commission meeting to discuss the recommendations. Wednesday, August 12

  • 9:30 a.m.–Florida Office of Insurance Regulation Proposed Rule Hearing.  Tallahassee, Florida.  
    • 69O-166.031, “Mediation of Property Insurance Claims.”  Proposed amendments would cross reference Florida Department of Financial Services’ Rule 69J-166.031, which comprehensively addresses mediation of residential and commercial property insurance claims. Whereas the two rules used to be identical, the DFS rule changed. Amendments to the OIR rule also would maintain the penalty for an insurer’s failure to appear at the mediation conference.  To view the hearing notice, click here.
    • 69O-143.046, -.047, -.056, “Registration of Insurers; Standards; Acquisition of Controlling Stock.” The proposed new rules would regulate the operation of insurance holding companies and their affiliates, as well as the acquisition process of insurance entities.  To view the hearing notice, click here.
  • 10:00 a.m.–Florida Workers’ Compensation Joint Underwriting Association (“FWCJUA”) Investment Committee meeting.  To view the meeting notice, click here.

Tuesday, August 18

  • 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.–Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation Proposed Rule Hearing.  Tallahassee, Florida.  To view the hearing notice, click here.  The following rules are no longer necessary and are proposed for repeal:
    • 69L-3.018:  Wage Loss Benefits Due to Permanent Impairment (Dates of Accident August 1, 1979 through December 31, 1993)
    • 69L-3.019:  Wage Loss Benefits for Temporary Partial Disability (Dates of Accident August 1, 1979 through December 31, 1993)
    • 69L-3.0191:  Temporary Disability Benefits (Dates of Accident January 1, 1994 through September 30, 2003)
    • 69L-3.0192:  Impairment Income Benefits (Dates of Accident January 1, 1994 through September 3T0, 2003)
    • 69L-3.0193:  Supplemental Income Benefits (Dates of Accident January 1, 1994 through September 30, 2003)
