Monday, August 19

  • Florida Workers’ Compensation Joint Underwriting Association (“FWCJUA”) Operations Committee teleconference meeting; 11:00 a.m.  To view the agenda, click here.

  • Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”) Public Rate Hearing:  Citizens Property Insurance Corporation; 4:00 p.m.  Tampa, Florida.  To view the hearing notice, click here.  Citizens has requested the following statewide average rate increases for the Coastal Account (“CA”), Commercial Lines Account (“CLA”) and Personal Lines Account (“PLA”):
    • 13-12319:  +8.7 percent to Commercial Residential – Condo Only (CLA)
    • 13-12323:  +0.0 percent to Commercial Residential – Excluding Condo Assoc. (CLA)
    • 13-12470:  +9.6 percent to Commercial Non-Residential (CLA)
    • 13-13047:  +9.8 percent to Homeowners (CA)
    • 13-13048:  +7.3 percent to Homeowners (PLA)
    • 13-13335:  +10.5 percent to Property – Dwelling/Fire (CA)
    • 13-13336:  +9.9 percent to Property – Dwelling/Fire (PLA)
    • 13-13467:  +10.0 percent to Commercial Non-Residential (CA)
    • The proposed rate changes also include total increases for sinkhole coverage of 15.6 percent to DP-1 (Dwelling/Fire), 27 percent to DP-3 (Dwelling/Fire), and 25.3 percent to HO-3 (Homeowners).  The requested rate increases are not uniform.  The effective dates of the proposed rate increases are:  CA–February 1, 2014 for new and renewal business; CLA–January 1, 2014 for new and renewal business; and PLA–January 1, 2014 for new and renewal business.

  • Florida Division of Insurance Agents and Agency Services (“IAAS”) Rule Development Workshop; 9:30 a.m.  Section 626.207(8), F.S., requires the Department of Financial Services to adopt rules establishing specific penalties against licensees for violations of Section 626.621 F.S.  Proposed Rule 69B-231.090 sets forth the penalties for violations of subsections 626.621(13) and (14), F.STo view the Workshop notice, click here.
  • Florida Department of Revenue (“DOR”) Rule Development Workshop; 10:00 a.m.  Proposed amendments to Rule 12B-8.0016, “Department of Revenue Electronic Database,” would provide reference to the updates to instructions for the DOR’s Address/Jurisdiction Database used for assigning premiums and policies to local tax jurisdictions.  Proposed amendments to Rule Rule 12B-8.003, “Tax Statement; Overpayments,” is to adopt, by reference, changes to forms used by the DOR in the administration of the insurance premium taxes, fees and surcharges.  To view the Workshop notice, click here.

  • Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation (“DWC”) Proposed Rule Hearing; 10:00 a.m.  Proposed amendments to Rule 69L-7.602 would provide that insurers, or other entities acting on behalf of an insurer, are not required to issue an Explanation of Bill Review to pharmacists for pharmaceutical services in cases where a preexisting contract between the parties specifies the terms of reimbursement for the services provided.  To view the hearing notice, click here.
