FLORIDA INSURANCE REGULATORY EVENTS

        

Tuesday, April 2

  • Florida Cabinet meeting; 9:00 a.m.  To view the agenda, click here.
  • Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation (“DWC”) Proposed Rule Hearing; 10:30 a.m.  Repeal of Rule 69L-10.0165, “On-site Audit Criteria,” is proposed because it offers no practical application.  The Rule provides guidance relating to the on-site audit of entities making claims for reimbursement against the Special Disability Trust Fund.  The DWC continually audits such claims in-house in a process that ensures there is no reimbursement of claims without sufficient documentation.  To view the hearing notice, click here.

  • DWC Proposed Rule Hearing; 10:30 a.m.  Proposed Rule 69L-6.012, entitled “Notice of Election to be Exempt,” would provide employers seeking exemptions from the coverage requirements found under Chapter 440, F.S., with an electronic method for submittal of Form DFS-F2-DWC-250 (Notice of Election to be Exempt).  To view the hearing notice, click here.

  • Florida Surplus Lines Service Office (“FSLSO”) Audit Committee meeting; 11:30 a.m.  Agenda includes discussion of the 2012 FSLSO Financial Audit.  Tallahassee, Florida.  To view the meeting notice, click here.

Wednesday, April 17

  • Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”) Rule Development Workshop; 9:30 a.m.  Proposed amendments to Rule 69O-157.302 relating to long-term care insurance rates would move the rates from the body of the Rule to the OIR Web site to facilitate more rapid updating of the most recently published new business rates.  It would also consolidate the rates for facility-only, non-facility-only and comprehensive categories into one Rule.  To view the hearing notice, click here.

    • OIR
      • For final adoption
        • Proposed amendments to Rule 69O-149.003, “Rate Filing Procedures” relating to life and health insurers delete the Maximum Annual Medical Trend tables from the text of the Rule, provide the URL of the OIR’s Web site on which the tables will be published and updated as needed, and limit the use of streamlined rate increase filings to Medicare Supplement providers with fewer than 1,000 policyholders nationwide, rather than to 1,000 policyholders in Florida.
