Florida Inspector General Melinda Miguel Releases Final Report on Citizens Property Insurance Employee, Board Travel Expenses

Feb 15, 2013

The Office of Florida Chief Inspector General Melinda Miguel has released its final report regarding Citizens Property Insurance Corporation’s (“Citizens”) travel expenses.

Based on a September 2012 request from Governor Rick Scott, Chief Inspector General Miguel reviewed a portion of travel expenses incurred by Citizens’ Board members, senior managers and employees to determine whether they were in compliance with Citizens’ travel policies.

The 30-page report recommends Citizens’ travel policies be updated to reflect that state travel laws apply to Board members, senior managers and all employees.  The report also recommends that Citizens enhance its internal controls to address the findings in the report.

A copy of the complete report is attached for your review.
