Florida House of Representatives Insurance-Related Bill Action: February 15, 2012

The Florida House of Representatives took action on several insurance-related bills while meeting in general Session today, February 15, 2012.

    The House passed HB 4169, relating to Insurance Company Excess Profits, by a vote of 92-25.  HB 4169 would revise provisions of law prohibiting insurance companies from realizing excessive profits for writing certain lines of insurance coverage to delete workers’ compensation and employers’ liability insurance coverages from list of lines for which excessive profits are prohibited.

    CS/HB 941 relating to Commercial Lines Insurance Policies was read a second time and rolled to Third Reading.  This bill would authorize an insurer to transfer a commercial lines policy under certain circumstances. 

    Also read a second time and rolled to Third Reading was CS/HB 789 relating to Workers’ Compensation, which would revise penalties applicable to employers that fail to secure payment of workers’ compensation as required.
