Florida House Considers Senate Omnibus Insurance Package on Second Reading; Strike-Everything Amendment Withdrawn

State Representative Proctor withdrew a large strike-everything amendment to SB 2044 today after over 30 amendments had been filed to it.  Even more amendments continued to be filed to the strike-everything legislation while SB 2044 was being discussed on second reading in the Florida House today, April 27, 2010.

Upon withdrawing his strike-everything amendment, Representative Proctor explained that it would be revised to delete references to sinkhole legislation.

SB 2044, was rolled to third reading and is expected to be taken up again in the House tomorrow, April 28. 

One amendment filed directly to SB 2044 was adopted that was sponsored by State Representative Julio Robaina and would require chief executive officers to certify supplemental rate filings. Other amendments to SB 2044 were withdrawn.
