Florida Health Insurance Advisory Board To Host Public Meeting On Health Care

The following news from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation announces a public meeting to be held on July 19, 2007 by the Florida Health Insurance Advisory Board.  The meeting will focus on a discussion of critical issues related to Florida’s health care insurance market.

Tallahassee  – The Florida Health Insurance Advisory Board (“Board”) has scheduled a public meeting to discuss critical issues for the Florida health care insurance market.  The Board will discuss a myriad of issues including improving health care access, improving health care affordability, and insuring Florida’s uninsured.

The Florida Legislature established the Board to advise the Office of Insurance Regulation (“Office”), Agency of Health Care Administration (AHCA), other executive departments as well as the Governor and Florida Legislature on issues and trends affecting Floridians in the health care insurance marketplace.  Chaired by Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty, the Board is comprised of representatives from the health insurance industry, insurance agents, employers, and a consumer as well as a representative from AHCA.

Additional public meetings are tentatively scheduled to be held in south Florida in August, and in Tallahassee in September.
