Florida Governor Crist Vetoes Open Rating Bill (HB 1171)

Florida Governor Charlie Crist vetoed House Bill 1171 relating to Residential Property Insurance today, June 24, 2009. Known as the “Open Rating” bill, HB 1171 would have provided for the deregulation of Florida property insurance rates for certain large insurers.
A copy of Governor Crist’s letter explaining the reasons for his veto of the bill is attached.
