Florida Department of Financial Services’ Division of Insurance Agent and Agency Services Rule Development Workshop on Public Adjuster Conduct and Ethical Requirements Scheduled for March 22, If Requested

The Florida Department of Financial Services’ Division of Insurance Agent and Agency Services has issued a Notice of Rule Development for Rule Chapter 69B-220, F.A.C., proposed amendments to which would update the following Rules pertaining to adjusters and incorporate recent legislative changes to Part VI of Chapter 626, Florida Statutes.
Proposed amendments to Rule 69B-220.051, entitled “Conduct of Public Adjusters and Public Adjuster Apprentices,” would clarify the responsibilities and requirements of public adjusters and public adjuster apprentices, specify the terms and conditions of contracts, require the license number on advertisements and prescribe practices to ensure fair dealing between public adjusters and claimants.
Proposed amendments to Rule 69B-220.201, entitled “Ethical Requirements for All Adjusters,” would update the code of ethics for all adjusters, delete provisions that reiterate or paraphrase statutory material and clarify the responsibilities and requirements of all adjusters.
If requested, a Rule Development Workshop will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in Room 116 of the J. Edwin Larson Building, 200 East Gaines Street, Tallahassee, Florida, 32399.
