Florida Commission On Hurricane Loss Projection Methodology Windstorm Mitigation Redrafted Report Published; Final Meeting Scheduled for January 25

A redraft of the Florida Commission on Hurricane Loss Projection Methodology (“Commission”) Windstorm Mitigation Committee (“Committee”) report of recommendations for improving the State’s wind mitigation credit system has been published prior to a January 25 meeting at which it is expected to be approved. Pursuant to House Bill 1495, which was signed into law in 2009, the Commission is required to present the report to Florida’s Governor, Cabinet, Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives by February 1, 2010. The report includes recommendations gathered during a series of Committee meetings held in 2009 that explored the process of assessing, determining and applying windstorm mitigation discounts, credits, rate differentials and other appropriate reductions in insurance deductibles.
The January 25 meeting is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. at the State Board of Administration in the Hermitage Conference Room, Hermitage Centre, 1801 Hermitage Boulevard, Tallahassee.
