Florida Cabinet Extends Insurance Commissioner Application Time
Mar 29, 2016
The process to select a new Florida Insurance Commissioner was extended for approximately one month after debate at the Florida Cabinet meeting today, March 29, 2016.
After Florida CFO Jeff Atwater moved to confirm State Representative Bill Hager for the job, Florida Governor Rick Scott did not concur. Instead, Governor Scott suggested extending the application process until April 15. A vote may be taken at the next Cabinet meeting on April 26.
Current Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty’s resignation is effective on May 2, 2016.
