FEDC Inside Track for Legislative Affairs: ‘Jobs for Florida’ Economic Development Accord Finally Reached With Bogdanoff Amendment Today

Apr 27, 2010

Above:  House Finance and Tax Council Chair State Representative Ellyn Setnor Bogdanoff worked with Senator Don Gaetz to craft an economic development amendment to the “Jobs for Florida” bill that passed today, April 27.  Above, left, is State Representative Tom Grady.  On the right is State Representative Gary Aubuchon.

After weeks of negotiations on SB 1752, an economic development package also known as “Jobs for Florida,” the bill was substituted for HB 1509, heard on second reading and revised on the House Floor with a strike-everything amendment by State Representative Ellyn Bogdanoff today, April 27, 2010.

In their joint work to create a final accord, State Representative Ellyn Bogdanoff and Senator Don Gaetz included a number of provisions in this amendment that relate to Florida’s Quick Action Closing Fund, Qualified Target Industry Program, Research Commercialization Matching Grant Program and Economic Gardening Program.

SB 1752 was rolled over to third reading and is expected to be passed by the House tomorrow (April 28) and then proceed to the Senate for reconsideration.

A copy of Representative Bogdanoff’s strike-everything amendment is attached for review.
