FEDC Inside Track for Legislative Affairs: Governor Signs Budget; All Economic Development Items Intact
Jun 11, 2008
Governor Charlie Crist signed Florida’s $66 billion 2008-2009 budget on June 11, 2008.Â
Three budget items were vetoed:
1. $300,000 for the Harris Chain of Lakes Restoration
2. $840,000 for Exponica International
3. $250 million, which would have been taken from Citizens’ Property Insurance Corporation’s budget to fund a second year of State’s Insurance Capital Build-Up Incentive Program
The Florida Economic Development Council is pleased to report that, partly as a result of its increased legislative vigilance this year and the hard work of its partners, no vetoed items pertained to economic development. During a tough budget year, this is a substantial accomplishment.
A copy of the Governor’s Signing and Appropriations Veto letter is attached for your review.
