FEDC Inside Track For Legislative Affairs: Enterprise Florida Board Members Named

Enterprise Florida announced the following elections and appointments to its Board of Directors on December 1, 2009:

Newly elected:

  • Andrew Corty, president, Florida Trend magazine
  • Gordon L. Gillette, president of TECO Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas

New appointments:

  • Danny Gaekwad, president of NDS USA, Ocala — appointed by Florida House Speaker Larry Cretul
  • Don Phillips, managing director, Phillips Development and Realty, Tampa — appointed by Governor Charlie Crist
  • Hal R. Valeche, president of York Street Capital Advisors, Palm Beach Gardens —  appointed by Florida Senate President Jeff Atwater.

Re-elected at-large members:

  • Michael Griffin, Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista
  • Jerry Ray, The St. Joe Company, Jacksonville
  • Jeffrey Shuman, Harris Corporation, Melbourne
  • Dave Walsh, Mitsubishi Power Systems, Inc., Orlando

Enterprise Florida, Inc. is a partnership between Florida’s business and government leaders.  Considered to be the principal economic development organization for the State of Florida, it is headquartered in Orlando.  Enterprise Florida’s mission is to diversify Florida’s economy and create better-paying jobs for its citizens by supporting, attracting and helping to create businesses in innovative, high-growth industries.  The organization works closely with a statewide network of economic development partners and is funded by the State, together with private sector businesses.

Board members named for Enterprise Florida

Several new members have been elected or appointed to the Enterprise Florida board of directors.

Newly elected members include Andrew Corty, president of Florida Trend magazine, and Gordon L. Gillette, president of TECO Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas.

There were also three new appointments including: Danny Gaekwad, president of NDS USA in Ocala; Don Phillips, managing director of Phillips Development and Realty in Tampa; and Hal R. Valeche, president of York Street Capital Advisors in Palm Beach Gardens. Gaekward was appointed by Florida House Speaker Larry Cretul, Phillips was appointed by Gov. Charlie Crist, and Valeche was appointed by Florida Senate President Jeff Atwater.
