Economists skip summer estimate for state revenue
State economists are skipping their summer estimate of Florida’s general revenue.
It’s one of three they usually do each year. But legislative economist Amy Baker said today it won’t be needed because collections have been coming in very close to the estimate made in March.
The figure for the budget year that ended June 30 was $22.4 billion. Baker said the final numbers aren’t in yet, but she expects collections to slightly top the estimate.
Baker said another factor is that the economists must move up their fall estimate from November or early December to September or October.
That’s because the Legislature is beginning its next annual 60-day session in January instead of March to get redistricting done in time for the 2012 elections.
