One of the most beneficial actions insurance company managers and executives can take to improve their operations is to build effective relationships with their regulators, according to Neil Miller, a former Maryland Associate Insurance Commissioner now with Alvarez & Marsal.
Mr. Miller explained this recommendation in his article, entitled “Building Effective Regulatory Relationships,” which appeared in the Summer 2014 issue of The Examiner, a magazine published by the Society of Financial Examiners.
In their efforts to facilitate complex transactions or market conduct issues, insurers can realize great benefits from modest efforts to educate regulators, as well as learn their expectations, he wrote.
The article, which is attached in PDF format, further outlines the steps that companies can take to grow and maintain those types of successful relationships.
