The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (“DHSMV”) has issued a memorandum to all insurance companies writing Florida automobile insurance policies, alerting them to the new laws regarding Personal Injury Protection (“PIP”) coverage.

Specifically, effective October 11, 2007, all insurers are required to report their books of business to the State of Florida and effective January 1, 2008, all automobile owners and registrants shall carry $10,000 of PIP coverage and a minimum of $10,000 Property Damage Coverage.
