Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Office of General Counsel Issues Opinion on PIP

On August 21, 2007, the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (“Department”) Office of General Counsel (“Office”) issued a legal memorandum to the Department’s Executive Director, Electra Theodorides-Bustle.  In the Office’s opinion, if PIP sunsets on October 1, 2007, “Florida drivers will still be required to establish and maintain motor vehicle property damage liability insurance under section 324.022, Florida Statutes.”
