Delray Beach Commissioner Mack Bernard Wins District 84 Florida House Seat

Delray Beach Commissioner Mack Bernard won the August 25, 2009 District 84 Special Democratic Primary Election by 60.5 percent of the overall vote to defeat Riviera Beach Councilman Cedrick Thomas for the seat formerly held by Florida State Representative Priscilla Taylor. Taylor, an insurance agent, had been appointed to fill a vacancy on the Palm Beach County Commission by Florida Governor Charlie Crist.
Because no Republican, third-party or non-affiliated candidates were in the race, Bernard was automatically elected.
