CORRECTION: FPCA Homeowners Division Members: Request for Information to Help Oppose Bill Eliminating Insurance Industry Tax Credit for Employee Salaries

Mar 28, 2013

CORRECTION: The date to submit the requested information has been corrected to state Monday, April 1, 2013.

Dear FPCA Homeowners Division Members:

In response to the Florida Senate Appropriations Committee bill (SPB 7132) to eliminate the tax break allowing insurance companies to claim tax credits equal to 15 percent of salaries they pay to their Florida employees, insurance trade associations are requesting its members to provide information documenting how much the insurance industry contributes to the Florida economy.  This information is intended to help demonstrate why the tax credit should not be repealed.

Accordingly, please provide the following information to Katie Webb (kwebb@cftlaw.com) no later than Monday, April 1, 2013:

·         Name of the company (no company-specific data will be released);

·         Each Florida city with an underwriting, claims adjustment, or other insurance services office;

·         The number of employees in each office;

·         If you can provide such information, the growth in employment in each office during the last three years; and

·         If you can provide such information, the amount of salary credit received by your company.

Should you have any questions, please contact Katie Webb (kwebb@cftlaw.com).
