Comparative Chart: CS/CS 2nd Eng. SB 2860

May 1, 2008

Sponsored by Senator Jeff Atwater and based on a list of recommendations covering specific legislative and regulatory proposals on rate filings and insurance company practices generated by the Senate Select Committee on Property Insurance Accountability, CS/CS 2nd Eng. Senate Bill 2860 passed the House on April 30, 2008, and the Senate the next day, May 1, 2008.

To illustrate the differences between the bill that passed the Senate originally and the final version passed this week, attached is a comparative analysis chart for your review.

Sorted by major issues extrapolated on the left-hand side, the chart’s right-hand side outlines the final  version  of the “Homeowners’ Bill of Rights” passed by both the House and Senate.  The middle column summarizes the bill originally passed by the Senate.

The final bill that passed was the result of a compromise between the House and Senate that will now be sent to the Governor for his signature.
