Citizens Property Insurance Corporation released meeting information for its upcoming July 30 educational forum on sinkhole-related policy changes.  The forum will be held in Spring Hill, Florida.

Citizens Holds Forum with Senator Fasano and Representative Schenck on Sinkhole Policy Changes

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Citizens Property Insurance Corporation will co-host with Sen. Mike Fasano and Rep. Rob Schenck an educational forum on July 30 from 4-7 p.m.in Spring Hill to discuss the recent changes made during both the regular and special session.

 “I applaud the staff of Citizens for their proactive steps to inform their customers of the importance of changes to their sinkhole coverage,” Fasano said. The meeting will focus on changes to sinkhole coverage and other legislative changes.

“It is important for us to be able to hold this forum,” Schenck said, “so my constituents may understand how they will benefit from these changes to insurance laws.  I look forward to seeing everyone at the forum.”

The change in sinkhole coverage affects residents in Pasco and Hernando counties.  Citizens policyholders in those counties will automatically be provided coverage for catastrophic ground cover collapse, but will have to select optional sinkhole coverage.

“At the public meeting this option and other related insurance issues will be discussed.  I encourage everyone who has coverage through Citizens to come to the meeting and ask any questions they have so that they are assured of the best coverage for their needs.” Fasano said.

Citizens staff members will give a brief review of the policy changes and will also be available to help individual policyholders who have questions about their coverage, said Citizens President Scott Wallace.
