CFO Sink Will Not Run for U.S. Senate

Florida Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) Alex Sink announced today that she will not seek election to the U.S. Senate seat to be vacated by Senator Mel Martinez in 2010.
Meanwhile, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that Senator Dan Gelber (D-Miami Beach) is holding off on a formal announcement regarding his entering the race.

Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink has decided not to run for the vacant U.S. Senate seat in 2010 but will run for re-election instead. Presumably, that means she’ll go for governor in 2014 — when she’ll be 65 and Gov. Charlie Crist is term-limited.
