    The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles has issued a mass mailing of 1.2 million letters to drivers with lapsed insurance, warning them a collections agency might be deployed if fines of up to $525 go unpaid, Insurance Journal reports.

     

    Delaware Insurance Department Says It Won’t Approve “Widow’s Penalty” in Setting Auto Rates

    Delaware Insurance Commissioner Karen Weldin Stewart announced Wednesday that her department will not approve any auto insurance company’s rate submission that includes a “widow’s penalty,” under which a widow or widower is charged a higher rate based solely on the change in his or her marital status following the loss of a spouse.

     

    Oklahoma Commissioner to Insurers:  Clarify Earthquake Coverage

    In response to a growing number of questions from consumers about earthquake coverage, Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak has asked property/casualty insurers in the state to send each policyholder a clarifying notice of earthquake coverage.

     

    Rate Changes in Store for Texas Auto Insurance Plan

    The Texas Automobile Insurance Plan Association will raise some rates and lower some for private passenger and commercial automobile insurance, effective February 1, 2016, Insurance Journal reports.
