Cabinet Meeting

The Florida Governor and Cabinet (“Cabinet”) will hold a meeting on Tuesday, April 28, starting at 9:00 a.m. in the Cabinet Meeting Room, Lower Level, The Capitol, Tallahassee.  To view the complete meeting agenda, click here.  Insurance-related items include:

  • Florida Department of Revenue
    • Approval is being requested to update provisions concerning the computation of the part of the Florida Insurance Guaranty Association assessment that should be included in Rules pertaining to Florida’s retaliatory tax law (Rule 12B-8.016, F.A.C.)
  • Florida Office of Insurance Regulation

     

    NAIC Public Hearing on Credit-Based Insurance Scores

    The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (“NAIC”) Property and Casualty Committee, together with the NAIC Market Regulation and Consumer Affairs Committee, will hold a public hearing on credit-based insurance scores on April 30, from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, 2799 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA. 

    The hearing will focus on the following three issues:

    • definition of what constitutes a credit-based insurance score;
    • evaluation of how insurers use credit-based insurance scores; and
    • discussion on how current economic conditions have affected policyholder premiums related to credit-based insurance scores.

    Florida Department of Financial Services Rule Hearing

    The Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Insurance Agents and Agency Services has issued a Notice of Rulemaking Development regarding the following Rules:

    Among other modifications, the proposed Rule amendments would require that public adjusters have their continuing education in public adjuster courses.

    If requested in writing and not deemed unnecessary by the agency head, a Rule development workshop will be held at the date, time and place shown below:

    Date:  Tuesday, May 5
    Time:  9:30 a.m.
    Place:  Room 142 of the Larson Building, 200 East Gaines Street, Tallahassee

     

     

    2009 PSC Hurricane Season Preparedness Workshop

    The Florida Public Service Commission (“PSC”) will hold a 2009 hurricane season preparedness workshop on Wednesday, May 6, starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Betty Easley Conference Center, Room 148, 4075 Esplanade Way, Tallahassee.

    The purpose of this workshop is to provide a forum for Florida’s electric utilities and local exchange companies to brief the PSC on their 2009 hurricane season preparation.

    FHCF Advisory Council Meeting

    The Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund (“FHCF”) Advisory Council will hold a meeting on Tuesday, May 12, from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. to discuss bonding capacity estimates and proposed Rule 19-8.028: Premium Formula for adoption.

     

     

    FHCF Rule Hearing

    The Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund Rule Development Hearing on Rule 19-8.028: Premium Formula that was originally scheduled for March 27, 2009, has been rescheduled to May 18, 2009.  More information will be provided as it becomes available.
