DBPR Home Inspector and Mold-Related Service Stakeholder Meetings

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (“DBPR”) will hold the following meetings regarding new mold and home inspector licensure and regulation on Tuesday, September 29 in Room 301 of the Senate Office Building, 400 South Monroe Street, The Capitol, Tallahassee:

  • Home inspector stakeholders – 9:00 a.m. through Noon
  • Mold-related service stakeholders – 1:30 p.m. through 4:30 p.m.

These are the first in a series of statewide meetings to provide stakeholders and industry professionals with an opportunity to provide input on the new laws, which are effective on July 1, 2010.  For more information, click here.

DBPR Home Inspector and Mold-Related Service Stakeholder Meetings

The Florida DBPR will hold the following meetings regarding new mold and home inspector licensure and regulation on Thursday, October 1 in the Main Auditorium, Room F128, Florida State College at Jacksonville, Kent Campus, 3939 Roosevelt Boulevard, Jacksonville:

  • Home inspector stakeholders – 9:00 a.m. through Noon
  • Mold-related service stakeholders – 1:30 p.m. through 4:30 p.m.

OIR Public Rate Hearing

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”) will hold a public rate hearing to discuss the recent workers’ compensation rate filing made by the National Council for Compensation Insurance (“NCCI”).  In the rate filing, the NCCI has requested a 6.8 percent average rate decrease for all new and renewal workers’ compensation insurance policies effective January 1, 2010.

Florida Senate Committee on Banking and Insurance Interim Meeting

Florida House Insurance, Business and Financial Affairs Committee Interim Meeting

The Florida Department of Revenue (“DOR”), Division of Miscellaneous Tax has issued a Notice of Proposed Rule regarding the following Rule that would adopt changes to forms used by the DOR in administering the insurance premium tax:

DOR Rule Workshop

The Florida DOR, Division of Corporate, Estate and Intangible Tax has issued a Notice of Rulemaking Development regarding the following Rules relating to the alternative minimum tax credit calculation and the expansion of the Florida Nonprofit Scholarship Program to include insurance premium tax credits:

  • 12C-1.0186: Credit for Florida Alternative Minimum Tax
  • 12C-1.0187: Credits for Contributions to Nonprofit Scholarship Funding Organizations
  • 12C-1.051: Forms

Proposed amendments to Rule 12B-8.001:  Premium Tax; Rate and Computation that would expand the nonprofit scholarship funding organization credit program to include a credit against the insurance premium tax also are scheduled to be discussed.  To view the Notice of Rulemaking Development for this Rule, click here.

The Florida Department of Financial Services (“DFS”), Division of Workers’ Compensation has issued a Notice of Proposed Rule regarding the following Rule:

The proposed Rule amendments would enable immediate revocation of the Certificate of Election to be Exempt for any corporation that remains dissolved or inactive after 90 days from the date of its dissolution or a change in status.
