    DFS Rule Workshop

    The Florida Department of Financial Services (“DFS”), Division of Insurance Agents and Agency Services has issued a Notice of Rulemaking Development regarding the following Rule:

    • 69B-211.320:  Curriculum Standards for Special Designation

    The proposed Rule amendment would establish curriculum standards for the training of certified adjusters.  A Rule Development Workshop was held on November 2, but no comments were provided.

     

    NAIC Rate Filing Guideline Subgroup Meeting

    The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (“NAIC”) Rate Filing Guideline Subgroup of the Life and Health Actuarial Task Force met via teleconference on Monday, November 2 at 2:00 p.m. (EST).

     

     

    Tuesday, November 3

     

    Continuing Care Advisory Council Meeting

    The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”) held its annual Continuing Care Advisory Council meeting on Tuesday, November 3 at 10:30 a.m. in Room B23 of the Larson Building, 200 East Gaines Street, Tallahassee.  The agenda included appointing a new chairperson and vice chairperson and a discussion of issues currently facing the continuing care industry. 

     

    NAIC VM PBR Scenarios Subgroup Meeting

    The NAIC Valuation Method Principle-Based Reserve Scenarios Subgroup of the Life and Health Actuarial Task Force met via teleconference on Tuesday, November 3 at 2:00 p.m. (EST) to discuss the American Academy of Actuaries (“AAA”) Economic Scenario Work Group’s December 2008 Report and the AAA Economic Scenario Work Group September 2009 Report.

    NAIC Accident and Health Working Group Meeting

    DFS Rule Workshop

    The DFS, Division of Consumer Services has issued a Notice of Rulemaking Development regarding the following proposed Rule:

    • 69J-9.001:  Database of Information Relating to Sinkholes

    The DFS is required by law to consult with the Florida Geological Survey and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to implement a statewide electronic database of sinkholes and related activity identified in the state.  The proposed Rule provides the form and content of the database, which may include:  standards for reporting and investigating sinkholes, requirements for insurers to report the receipt of sinkhole claims, past sinkhole claim activity and ground settling-related information.
