LEGISLATIVE INTERIM COMMITTEE MEETINGS
Monday, February 9
Senate Policy and Steering Committee on Ways and Means
The Florida Senate Policy and Steering Committee on Ways and Means will hold a meeting on Monday, February 9, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m. in Room 412 of the Knott Building, The Capitol, Tallahassee, Florida.
Senator J.D. Alexander (R-Winter Haven) has called Senior Officer of the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund (“FHCF”) Jack Nicholson to testify about the financial condition of the FHCF.
The Committee also will hear a presentation on health insurance dependent eligibility.

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (“NAIC”) will hold a Life and Health Actuarial Task Force meeting on Monday, February 9, starting at 1:00 p.m. (EST) and on Tuesday, February 10, starting at Noon (EST) via teleconference. Public Workshop on the Use of Credit Reports and Credit Scores by Insurers

Wednesday, February 18
Public Hearing on the Use of Credit Reports and Credit Scores by Insurers
The purpose of the public hearing is to take public testimony regarding the use of credit scoring, credit history and credit models by insurers in the underwriting and rate-setting process in relation to Rule 69O-125.005.
The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation also is seeking testimony and information regarding the adverse impacts credit scoring has on individuals based on race, color, religion, marital status, age, gender, income, national origin, or place of residence, as well as testimony regarding proposed Rules which regulate the manner in which credit scoring models are approved.

OIR Rule Hearing–RESCHEDULED
The Florida Department of Financial Services, Office of Insurance Regulation has issued a Notice of Proposed Rule regarding the following Rule:
- 69O-175.008: Unfair Discrimination in Private Passenger Motor Vehicle Insurance Rates – Based on History of Accidents
The purpose of the proposed Rule is to clarify that imposing additional premium on an existing or new insured based upon not-at-fault accidents is a violation of Florida law.
