Broward League of Cities Now Accepting Applications for 2011-2012 Scholarship for Government Studies

The Broward League of Cities is accepting applications until February 10, 2012 for its annual Scholarship for Government Studies. Four Broward County high school seniors, who are both residents of Broward County and attending Broward County public or charter schools, will be awarded $1,000 each.  The scholarships will provide financial support to students who plan to pursue a college major in public administration, political science or other government-related field.

Broward League of Cities Now Accepting Applications for Scholarship for Government Studies

Applications due by Feb. 10

 

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Broward League of Cities announced it is now accepting applications for its annual Scholarship for Government Studies. Offered to four Broward County high school seniors who are residents of Broward County and attending Broward County public or charter schools, the scholarships provide financial support to students who plan to attend a college or university to pursue a major in public administration, political science or other government-related field.

The Broward League of Cities and its contributing Associate Members will award four outstanding students with $1,000 each. Applicants must demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills. The application must include one essay, one personal statement, two letters of recommendation and a transcript. Detailed instructions can be found at www.browardleague.org.

Applications are due by Feb. 10, 2012. To be considered, applicants must be available on the date scheduled for interviews, tentatively set for March 31, 2012.

“We offer this scholarship program to help our future leaders pursue their passion in studying government,” said Broward League of Cities President and Cooper City Mayor Debby Eisinger. “We urge teachers, parents and friends to encourage interested students to apply for this great opportunity.”
