Broward County Public Schools Named First in Nation to be Certified by the National Wildlife Federation

The following news release was issued by Broward County Public Schools on July 23,2012:

 

Broward School District First in Nation to be Certified by National Wildlife Federation

 

FORT LAUDERDALE — Representatives from the National Wildlife Federation will honor The School Board of Broward County, Florida at the Board’s meeting today, July 24 (1:30 p.m. time certain) as the first school district in the nation to be certified by the Federation.  The meeting will be held at the K.C. Wright Administration Center, 600 SE Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale.

According to a press release issued by the National Wildlife Federation, the District was selected for its “comprehensive approach to environmental education and creative creation and use of outdoor learning spaces.”  Over 40 percent of the District’s schools are Certified Schoolyard Habitats and 25 percent of its students are active in outdoor learning.
