Bill Relating to Commercial Insurance Rates Filed by Florida Senator Steve Oelrich

Florida Senate Bill 178 relating to commercial insurance rates was recently filed by State Senator Steve Oelrich (R-Gainesville). The bill contains additional categories of commercial risks that are exempt from certain provisions in the rate standards law in 627.062, F.S.
The additional exempt lines include professional liability, fiduciary liability, general liability, nonresidential property, nonresidential multiperil and excess property. The bill also relaxes certain regulatory burdens for commercial risks that are exempt from 627.062, F.S.
SB 178 will be considered during the 2011 Regular Legislative Session, which is scheduled to commence on March 8, 2011.
