The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation issued the following information regarding the promotion of Audrey Brown to fill the position that will be vacated by David Foy when he assumes his new role as Policy Director for Governor Charlie Crist.

Audrey Brown Promoted to Chief of Staff at Florida Office of Insurance Regulation
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (11/13/2007) – Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty today announced that he has promoted Audrey Brown to the position of chief of staff with the Office of Insurance Regulation (Office), effective Nov. 19.
Ms. Brown has served as the deputy chief of staff since June, overseeing Cabinet affairs, technology, market research, National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and human resources functions.
Prior to her most recent duties, Ms. Brown worked in both the private and public sectors. She worked for nearly two years as the manager of contract compliance and administration for AvMed Health Plans in Gainesville, Fla. As part of the corporate underwriting department, Ms. Brown oversaw the compliance function for contracts, product benefit designs and marketing materials, ensuring that they met appropriate standards for applicable laws and regulations.
Before AvMed, Ms. Brown spent more than five years working for the State of Florida, serving first in the governor’s external affairs office and then in his appointments office.Â
Ms. Brown joined the Office of Insurance Regulation in July 2003 as the cabinet and legislative affairs coordinator. Since then, she has held positions as the director of governmental affairs and the director of the Safe Homes for Florida Families program.
Ms. Brown earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Florida State University.
She and her husband reside in Tallahassee.
Ms. Brown replaces David Foy, who is leaving the Office to become the policy director for Gov. Charlie Crist. Mr. Foy’s last day is Friday.
