Allstate Rate Hearing Terminated; Sen. Atwater Recommends Max Penalty Levy for Failure to Produce Documentation

Jan 15, 2008

The hearing to review Allstate’s rate filing scheduled for two days was terminated late this morning by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”) based on the OIR’s allegation that Allstate had failed to produce all of the required documentation which would be needed for the hearing and appropriate questioning.

Senator Jeff Atwater, who co-chairs the newly-formed Senate Select Committee on Property Insurance Accountability, recommended that the OIR levy the maximum penalty allowed by law against Allstate for its failure to produce documents.

More information on this issue will be provided shortly.
