ADVANCE: Insurance-Related Legislative Committee Meetings–Thursday, April 2

Press Conference Today: State Representatives Alan Hays, Pat Patterson, Janet Long and Bill Proctor
The Legislators will host a press conference today in The Capitol Rotunda at 2:30 p.m. in conjunction with the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) to address the state’s property insurance crisis and discuss solutions and legislation dealing with the Florida insurance market. Among the items of discussion will be recommendations from the Citizen’s Review Task Force, the importance of home mitigation and preservation of the My Safe Florida Home Program and a review of House Bill 1171 by Representative Proctor that relates to non-assessable policies.
Speakers include:
- Florida Insurance Consumer Advocate Sean Shaw
- Jose Gonzalez of Associated Industries of Florida
- Eli Lehrer of CEI
- Jay Lilies of the Florida Wildlife Federation
Also in attendance will be several not-for-profit agencies from throughout Florida.
A representative of Colodny Fass will attend the press conference and provide a report on the proceedings.
Florida Senate Session
The Florida Senate will hold Session on Thursday, April 2, 9:00 a.m.-Noon, Senate Chambers, The Capitol, Tallahassee. Among the insurance-related bills on the agenda is:
- SB 1432 relating to Insurance Premiums by State Senator Ronda Storms (R-Brandon)

Florida House of Representatives Finance and Tax Council
The Florida House of Representatives Finance and Tax Council will meet on Thursday, April 2, 10:00 a.m.-Noon, Room 102 of the House Office Building, The Capitol, Tallahassee. The agenda includes one insurance-related bill:
- CS/HB 453 relating to Tax Credits for Contributions to Nonprofit Scholarship-Funding Organizations by the Florida House Pre-K-12 Policy Committee

The Florida Senate Committee on Finance and Tax will meet on Thursday, April 2, 1:15-3:00 p.m., Room 301 of the Senate Office Building, The Capitol, Tallahassee. Among the insurance-related bills on the agenda is:
