AAMGA Recognizes Colodny Fass for Leadership in 2009 Surplus Lines Glitch Bill Passage

In a press release issued on June 12, 2009, the American Association of Managing General Agents (“AAMGA”) recognized Colodny Fass for leadership in the 2009 passage of House Bill 853 into Florida law.
The new law will rectify the Florida Supreme Court opinion in the Essex Insurance Company v. Zota case, which had held, in part, that surplus lines insurance was only exempt from the rating section of Chapter 627 of Florida’s insurance rates and contracts statute, but subject to the chapter’s other provisions.
