2007 Summit Recap
Last year’s consortium, which attracted several hundred of insurance executives from around the nation, was highlighted by presentations from Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio, (then)Speaker Designate Ray Sansom, former Speaker and current Taxation and Budget Reform Commission Chairman Allan Bense, along with Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty.
Fred Karlinsky, who served as moderator throughout the event along with William Stander, Executive Director of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, said “The strong participation by insurance leaders at this year’s Summit for the purpose of evaluation and planning clearly shows the industry’s firm commitment to the state of Florida.”
A panel of Florida legislators openly discussed their views on insurance legislation passed during 2007. With their candor revealing strong insight and reflection on the impact of recent legislation upon the insurance industry, the lawmakers fielded difficult questions from the audience and provided a glimpse into the public policy issues that may pave the road ahead for the industry.
In addition, 40 different high-level industry speakers took the podium during the fast-paced, day-long programs. General themes included Florida niche market updates, year-in-review analyses, panels, and forecasting to assist participants in their own business planning and outlook in Florida for the year ahead.
With 2007 marking its third year, the Summit has experienced annual attendance increases, with participants citing the Florida business-focus, quality of information gained and the opportunity to personally access industry leaders and regulators through informal networking receptions each evening.
